Halloween

 

Pretty simple this year... Our pumpkins were carved:  Thomas the Train for Ezra, light sabers for Johnathan, and a "Tea Table" for Naomi.  Sorry, Abby - we'll carve one just for you next year when you have an opinion!  And Halloween night was also Awana Wednesday.  Johnathan elected not to dress up, and Naomi was a dolphin trainer!

My Yemon

This is Ezra's favorite fruity friend, "My Yemon".  Whenever he can convince Momma to let him have one from the refrigerator, "My Yemon" goes with him all over the house; it's even joined him at bedtime (though it somehow disappears by morning!)

Riding

 

We are excited that this month Johnathan is participating in a pilot program for therapeutic riding at Texas A&M.  He has had so much fun so far, learning horsemanship skills, stretching his leg, and working on balance, throwing, and more. 

He gets to ride in all different directions - forward, backward, sideways...

 

The horses and some of the volunteers are from A&M's Parsons Mounted Cavalry, so Johnathan gets to ride horses that are used in parades and at home football games!

 

Five Months Old

Five month old Abby...   grabbing toes and tasting them, gurgling, blowing raspberries, making "yucky" faces every time we offer her cereal... and being charming.  She loves people!

 

Happy 120th!

Zion Church of Kurten celebrated its 120th anniversary this month!  We commemorated God's faithfulness with a special service.  Here are Naomi and Johnathan singing "God of Wonders".

After the service we had a big lunch. 

 

One of my favorite parts of the day came after the celebration, when I was chatting with a pastor and his wife who ministered here 40 years ago.  As newlyweds they lived in the old parsonage that sat in the same spot as the newer parsonage where we now live.  They told me a story about how a rodent died in the wall of their bathroom shortly after they moved in, creating a terrible smell.  I was tickled because we, too, had some kind of rodent die in an unreachable spot in our kitchen not long after we moved here!  I can laugh about it now... but at the time, well... Did I mention I was pregnant at when that happened?

Rice Cereal

Abby's first tastes of rice cereal...  So far, she's not overly impressed.

 

Are You Ready For Some Football?

Johnathan is lacing up his cleats again for Upwards football.  This year he is on the Hornets team.  With several of his buddies and a veteran coaching staff, he had a great first game!  He kicked off the season by running in the football for his first-ever extra point and snagging his first flag.

 

 

He had a great Yell Leader on the sidelines, too!
