Easter

We enjoyed a beautiful Easter with a cantata at the chapel, Naomi singing with the children's choir, and more eggs. Our sweet surprise of the morning was that we discovered our first butterfly had just emerged from its chrysalis!

Johnathan Rides Again!

Johnathan is back to riding for another session. This week they did Easter activities, and Ezra and Naomi joined in the fun of smashing confetti eggs and trying the vibrating theraboard.

A Peculiar Outing

We've been taking a drive to see the spring flowers every year since we moved to Texas, so we thought we knew what to expect this year.  It turned out to be a rather peculiar day... not bad at all - just a few unusual discoveries!

 

We stopped by the Antique Rose Emporium first to pick up a replacement for the rose I killed last year.  As we were leaving, we noticed lots of kids running in with Easter baskets.  Turns out it was the big Easter egg hunt day.  Our kids joined in, but I think they were the only ones using their road trip backpacks instead of Easter baskets!

 

 

Unexpected discovery #2:   We've always gone to a park in Brenham to get bluebonnet pictures.  It's always beautiful, with a whole field full of wildflowers.  So we headed there, figuring that it would be a safe bet for picture opportunities.  When we pulled up, we discovered... no flowers!  We had to take to the roadsides to find a patch where we could get pictures.  Turns out the best spot we found ended up being right in College Station!

 

Such an unusual day calls for lunch at a restaurant with "character," and did we ever pick a good one!  We decided to try Mobius Coffee and Pizza (an interesting combination, I think!).  Ezra's lemonade came in a honeybear, complete with a little honey left in the bottom.  Do they save the old bottles for kids?  Is this something other restaurants do, but I've just never seen it before?  So many questions, but no answers! 

 

But the cherry on top of our peculiar day was the customer sitting across from us.  At first I just thought it was two businessmen sitting at a table with laptops, until I looked closer...  It was a man in a suit, working on his laptop and talking on his Bluetooth, sitting across from a papier mache double of himself, complete with a fake laptop and matching bead necklaces.  I didn't take a picture, so you'll just have to believe me!

 

 

The Big Event

The Big Event, a community service opportunity for A&M students, is a big event around our campus. Naomi and Johnathan look forward to helping out too. This year they joined in with cleaning and working on the gardens, with a big dose of playing with the other kids here with their parents. The campus looks all spruced up and ready for Easter, and the flower beds at the front of the parsonage look beautiful with new annuals and mulch.

Ten Months Old

 

Here's Abby at 10 months old.  She's sprouting teeth, and she's not too happy about it.  She crawls all over, exploring the house.  Her favorite foods are green beans, pears, and puffs - she'd really rather feed herself, so little snacks are her favorite.  She's getting pretty good at using the sign for "more" to let us know that she needs more puffs!   She loves to observe her siblings and imitate their noises.  Abby's become pretty suspicious of strangers lately - Mommy and Daddy only, please!

Ezra's Picks

We all filled out our brackets... even Ezra, participating for the first time.  His picking went like this:

Daddy:  Red or yellow?
Ezra:  Yeyyow
Daddy:  Ram or Tiger?
Ezra:  Tiger!

...and so on. 

As of today Naomi is #1, but Mom has a history of pulling ahead in the end.  Happy March!

Naomi's News

Naomi has joined the glasses club!  She chose the purple pair and takes meticulous care of them with her shiny pink case and wiping cloths.  We think she looks adorable!

If this incident is any indication, we may have an aggressive driver on our hands in about 14 years.  Fortunately, the peacock took the moral high road and didn't argue back.

It Was Bound to Happen...

...and our guess is, this won't be the first time! 

Ezra got six stitches in his forehead after running into the edge of a wall.  He seemed to enjoy his adventure to the hospital for the most part - He came home telling everyone about the helicopter he got to see, and he was all smiles.  Even now, two weeks later, he takes pride in telling nearly everyone he meets, "I runned into a wall".

 

 

Johnathan was fascinated by the whole idea of stitches.  The next day, after examining them, he proclaimed, "Ezra gots threads!  Ezra, you got sewed!  That's so cool!!"

Race Day

This year's Grand Prix cars!  Johnathan made a Star Wars land speeder, Naomi won 3rd place in design for her dophin in the waves, and (gasp!) Kevin's sushi roll won second place for speed in the adults division.  That's a Boaz family first... we're usually cheering if our cars cross the finish line at all!
