Our Family Has Grown!
We are blessed to introduce our newest family member, Ezra Kevin Boaz. Ezra was born June 17, weighing in at 9 pounds 1 ounce and 20 ½ inches long. He has been such a sweet addition to our family – He is a happy little guy, a great sleeper, and has lots of smiles to share. At two months old he joined big brother Johnathan at physical therapy to stretch out his neck, which was stiff from torticollis. Now at 6 months, he loves to roll, chew on things, and watch his big siblings run around and entertain him.
Growing into a Big Brother…
Johnathan has grown and changed by leaps and bounds (literally!) this year. He has responded so well to the AFO (ankle brace) and therapy that he started at the end of last year. His ankle has stretched out, and he has learned to jump, climb, and run. He outgrew his first AFO and traded it in for a bigger one covered with spaceships. Becoming a big brother has probably been his biggest adjustment this year – it’s not easy giving up your “baby of the family” status after 4 years! But he has a tender heart toward his baby brother. We love watching him hold Ezra and sing him songs. Johnathan loves playing with his collection of fire trucks and firefighters, reading, and going to Awana Cubbies, too.
Growing in Kindergarten…
Naomi is now six years old and we can’t believe our baby girl is a kindergartener! She has taken off this year and is doing great learning to read and being responsible as she takes off for school at Bonham Elementary. Naomi is an enthusiastic helper, both at school and at home. She is eager to lend a hand and takes great care of both of her brothers by playing with them and helping them. When she gets home, Naomi spends her play time teaching her imaginary students everything she has learned, so we may have a future teacher on our hands! Naomi loves to read, help us cook, and is winging her way through her first year of Awana Sparks.
Growing as Parents and Pastor…
Rachel started out the year “growing” quite huge with our baby boy. As June approached, she had plenty of time to grow in patience, too – preparing his room, wondering if we’d make to the hospital in time, and pacing the parking lots every evening. We were so thankful for the support of our church family, who helped us with meals, a baby shower, and a team of adopted grandmas who were ready to help at a moment’s notice! Since Ezra’s birth, Rachel’s had abundant opportunity to grow in grace, patience, and stamina in caring for our three precious gifts.
Kevin continues to love the challenge of pastoring both his family and the church. His days are filled with meeting with people, discipling, studying, and preparing and sharing sermons. And then he comes home and takes care of the four of us! We are thankful that through his incredible busy schedule, he is close by to share lunch with us on some weekdays, take Naomi or Johnathan along on some ministry activities, and come up with fun adventures that draw us closer to one another and Christ.
